Meeting Minutes April 21, 2026

Attendees: Business

  • Liz Riffle, Carie Starr, Herb Grove,  Nick George , Gene Maddox, Shauna Rankin, Susan Golembeski,  Debbi Tanner

Quorum Met


Meeting Called to Order:

  • 6:30 PM by Carie Starr

  • Approval of Minutes from March meeting 

  • The minutes were approved, with the following changes ---


Presentation of Financial Report:

  • Nick George reported no significant changes at this time

  • Nick George  Requested year to date info from Penn Harris.  Liz will look into the change in the invoice.  We did not meet the minimums for better rates.


Old Business:

Herb Grove moved to add 4% to all card charges so that we’re not paying online  transaction fees.  Seconded by Shauna Rankin.  Members will still be able to pay via check or cash. Motion was discussed and approved unamimously.

  • Questioned why we’re using WIX and Square.  No action taken.

  • Herb Grove moved that we need to create a website maintenance budget.  He suggested 2 hours a month and a check in at 6 months.  It was discussed and passed unanimously.

  • Board members called and.

  • Sale will be moved to Kentucky 

  • Discussed the need for a Sale Committee and Credentials Committee.  No action taken. 


New Business:

  • Active members – 51, Associate Members – 5

  • Need to work on ensuring that there is only 1 vote per active farm.

  • Board members were asked to begin developing ideas for educational seminars and programming for 2027 Conference, Show and Sale


Show & Sale

  • Board of Directors has been asked to come up with ideas for an educational seminars at the 2027  Show & Sale.

  • Discussion about maintaining the budget for show, sale & conference at $20,000 with a $3,000 fundraising buffer.A number of venues were discussed, with concerns for attendance, facilities, and dates of  availability.

  • The board discussed the need for both a sale committee and a credentials committee. No action taken

  • Liz Riffle moved to change the  2027 winter conference to Blue Grass Stockyards in Lexington, KY.  Herb Grove seconded the motion. Motion carried.  Yea – Susan Golembeski, Herb Grove, Liz Riffle, Nick George, Shauna Rankin.  Nay – Gene Madox, Debbi Tanner

  • Motion made to hold 2027 Winter Conference and Show & Sale February 25 – 27, 2027.  Motion carried unanimously.


ByLaw Changes

  • Quorum amendment was discussed at length. Nick George moved to adopt the edited article                 

  • Setting the percentage for quorum at 35% of active membership and striking current article 4.                  

  • Motion carried unanimously.
